Airbnb Basic Sync

What Basic Sync does, what it doesn't sync, and when it's the right choice for your Airbnb connection.

This article walks you through how to set this up in Futurestay. Want help deciding which option is right for you?

Airbnb Full Sync

What Is Basic Sync?

Basic Sync is the standard way to connect your Airbnb listing to Futurestay. It links your Airbnb calendar and reservations to Futurestay so you can manage bookings across channels from one place.

With Basic Sync, Futurestay pulls your Airbnb reservations into your unified calendar and prevents double bookings. Your direct booking site stays in sync with your Airbnb availability automatically.

What Syncs

  • Calendar and availability: Blocked and booked dates sync both ways
  • Reservations: Airbnb bookings appear in your Futurestay dashboard
  • Guest details: Guest name and contact info from Airbnb reservations

What Doesn’t Sync

With Basic Sync, your Airbnb listing content and settings are managed separately in Airbnb’s dashboard. This includes:

  • Cancellation policy
  • Pricing and rates
  • Listing description, photos, and amenities
  • House rules
  • Check-in/out times

If you change your cancellation policy in Futurestay, it applies to your direct booking site only. Your Airbnb cancellation policy stays as whatever you’ve set in Airbnb.

When to Use Basic Sync

Basic Sync is the right choice if:

  • You prefer to manage your Airbnb listing details directly in Airbnb
  • You primarily use Futurestay for direct bookings and calendar management
  • You don’t need Futurestay to push settings changes to Airbnb
  • You’re just getting started and want a simpler setup

Upgrading to Full Sync

If you want Futurestay to manage your Airbnb listing settings (rates, policies, descriptions, and more), you can upgrade to Full Sync. Full Sync uses Airbnb’s Property Management (PM Scope) API, which gives Futurestay deeper access to your listing.
