Your First Booking

What to expect when your first reservation comes in and how to manage it.

Where Bookings Show Up

When a reservation comes in, it lands on your Reservations page. You can get there from the main sidebar navigation.

The Current tab is where you’ll spend most of your time. It shows upcoming and in-stay reservations, organized into two groups: “This Week” for reservations starting soon, and everything else below that. When you have new reservations that you haven’t viewed yet, a “New” badge with a count appears next to the tab.

Reading a Reservation Card

Each reservation shows up as a card with the key details at a glance: guest name, property, check-in and check-out dates, and booking source (direct, Airbnb, etc.).

Click the card to open the details drawer. Here you’ll find:

  • Property and dates: Check-in and check-out times, length of stay, and the date the booking was made
  • Cancellation policy: Which policy applies to this reservation
  • Guest info: Name, phone number, and email address
  • Payment summary: Total amount paid by the guest and your expected payout after fees

What You Can Do with a Reservation

From the details drawer, you can view the full booking, modify it, or cancel it. Modifying and canceling are only available for direct bookings and manually added reservations. For Airbnb reservations, changes have to be handled through Airbnb directly.

Futurestay also sends automated emails to guests based on your email templates. The booking confirmation goes out immediately after a reservation is made. Check-in instructions and other time-based messages go out on the schedule you configure. See Guest Emails for how to set those up.

Adding a Reservation Manually

Not every booking comes through your website. If you get a reservation over the phone or by email, you can add it manually using the Add Reservation button at the top of the Reservations page. This lets you enter guest details, dates, and payment info directly so everything stays in one place.
